Our story

Built on Hard Work and Kept Promises

Founded by a husband-and-wife team, Rocky Mountain Cascade brings years of hands-on forestry, road-building, and civil construction experience to Southwestern Montana. We believe opening access and caring for the land go hand in hand, and that doing the job right means being honest, keeping our word, and taking responsibility for our work.

WHERE WE LIVE AND WORK

Who We Are

Rocky Mountain Cascade is a land improvement, construction, and forestry contractor founded by a husband-and-wife team in Southwestern Montana. We bring practical field knowledge and project leadership to work ranging from private land improvements to complex mountain developments and civil construction.

Founder Scott Burke grew up in a family that was heavily involved in construction, logistics, forestry, excavation and underground utilities. Scott began operating equipment at twelve. He served in the Army including three tours overseas and retired as a Helicopter Instructor Pilot, developing the leadership, logistical planning, and judgment under pressure that he brings to his work today. Scott’s experience spans excavation, aggregate mining, forestry and road construction across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and western Montana, along with superintendent and project management roles on major civil projects. He has led forestry crews in thinning, timber harvesting, and fire salvage, and built roads in some of the North Cascades’ most challenging terrain. Most recently, he spent three years managing infrastructure development on a Montana ranch serving combat veterans and their families.

That experience is the foundation of RMC: understanding the work on the ground, seeing how the whole project fits together, and taking responsibility for carrying it through. We’re building a company that owners, builders, developers, and public agencies can count on for capable leadership and work done right.

What We Stand For

Honesty & Accountability

We’re honest about what we can take on and follow through on our commitments. When conditions or plans change, we talk it through with you and take responsibility for our part.

Care In The Work

Rework costs everyone. We take time to understand the job and plan the work carefully in order to execute correctly. The details matter, including the ones that will be buried or out of sight when the project is finished.

Stewardship

We consider what the property needs today and how our work will affect it for years to come. Thoughtful development, well-planned access, responsible timber harvest, and healthy forests all play a part in caring for the land and protecting the investment you've made in it.

Respect For Your Investment

We respect your time, your money, and the trust you place in us. We explain the options and tradeoffs so you can make informed decisions about your property.

Our Approach

We start by understanding what you want to accomplish and what the property will allow. Access, terrain, ground conditions, and drainage all help determine how we approach the job. We work through those details with you, explain the options and tradeoffs, and put together a practical plan.

Our experience in forestry, road building, and civil construction helps us look beyond the immediate task. We consider how access, drainage, site preparation, and future construction fit together. That includes evaluating opportunities to source and process suitable rock and gravel on site, where conditions and project requirements allow. This can reduce hauling and make practical use of the property’s resources.

Scott's field experience guides the equipment selection and sequence of work. We use our own machinery and lease additional equipment to suit each project, with care for the surrounding land and what comes next. When conditions change, we address them directly, keep you informed, and work through the next steps together.
